Get involved
We are a small team at the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust and therefore greatly appreciate support from the community in conducting our work. Take a look at the opportunities to get involved below:
Schools
We deliver assemblies for schools with a connection to the Mersey estuary, teaching pupils about the wildlife of the Mersey estuary and what they can do to protect it.
We also provide workshops for smaller groups of pupils (perhaps an eco-group or school council) to become Mersey Estuary Ambassadors, responsible for sharing news from around the Mersey (provided by us at MGET) with their classmates, and taking action for the Mersey.
If you would like to arrange an assembly and workshop for your school, send an email to hannah.atkins@mget.org.uk

Community groups
We work with lots of community groups around the Mersey estuary. From delivering talks to groups interested in learning about the river Mersey and its wildlife, to training groups to conduct water quality testing, there are numerous ways to get involved.
Are you part of a community group near the Mersey that have an interest in the environment? Get in touch to explore how we could work together by emailing info@mget.org.uk
Members of the community
If you’re not part of a community group but would like to be involved in our work, there are still ways to do so.
Keep an eye on the events section of our website, and our social media channels to hear about upcoming opportunities to get involved. This could look different depending on the day – perhaps a guided walk along the estuary to learn more about our work, or you could be joining us for a wildlife survey to contribute scientific data to the area.

Businesses
Are you an organisation looking to volunteer with a local charity? Join us for a Corporate Social Responsibility day, where your team will help us conduct vital conservation work around the Mersey estuary.
This is a great opportunity for team building and contributing positively to the local environment. We have had groups join us from organisations such as Liverpool World Museum, Ness Botanic Gardens, TEP (The Environment Partnership), Knowsley Safari, and many more.
We are always grateful for support from local businesses. Please get in touch to learn more by emailing info@mget.org.uk
